I believe jewellery, especially wedding rings, should be unique and custom made each step of the way for every individual. The decision to spend your life with another person calls for a finely crafted symbol that represents the strength, creativity, and flow of the relationship over time. We specialize in handcrafting luxurious contemporary metal alternatives to traditional bands, honouring this union.
Mokume-gane (木目金/木纹金) is a Japanese metalworking procedure which produces a mixed-metal laminate with distinctive layered patterns. Mokume gane translates closely to “wood grain metal” or “wood eye metal”, describing the way the metal takes on the appearance of natural wood grain.
Mokume-gane is a product made by fusing several layers of different coloured precious metals together to form a sandwich of alloys called a billet. The billet is then manipulated in such a way that a pattern resembling wood grain emerges over the surface.
Mokume-gane created by Yi Feng Designs is fused by traditional methods, using heat and pressure. We don’t buy mokume from other makers, and we don’t rely on solder to hold our layers together.
